How to enter: 1 - Choose at least two of your favourite movie/game/comic franchises. For example, two that would mix well would be Pacific Rim and the Godzilla/Kong universes. 2 - Create at least one new art piece or write a story about what happened when your two franchises came face to face. If you choose to make an art piece, please include at least a paragraph in the picture description summarising what happened between your franchises. Did they get along? Did they fight? 3 - Post a link to your entry in the comments of this Journal by 04/07/23 at the very latest. That gives you two months but we all know how quick that time will pass so get cracking ASAP :) Once all entries are in, all those that entered will have to send me a Note voting for who you think should win. What art competition do you guys want next?
1 - Recreate a cover. You recreate your favourite movie poster comic, game or music album cover in some creative, artistic way. For example, you could recreate a Lord of the Rings movie poster but using Mass Effect characters etc. 2 - Crossover. You choose at least two of your favorite franchises and I give you a basic storyline to start with about how your franchises have come to meet. Then you make some art and or write a short story about what happened between them. 3 - Five Nights of Nightmares. You invent an original character (not too overpowered please) or choose an existing comic/game/movie character that wakes up on an alien planet with no explanation and I give you a summary of five days worth of enemies/monsters that they have to try and survive. All you have to do is make some art or draw up a profile about them then explain how they survived (or died) through all five days.
Your 2022 Christmas Art Competition Starts Now!!
Update: Entries are closed! ------------------------------------------------ Your challenge is to design a Christmas themed picture using characters of your choosing. It can be a drawing or a photo or a render or even a sculpture made of toenail clippings! Your choice. As examples, it could be a parody of a Christmas movie poster, a picture of Spider-Man webbing up some baddies in the shape of a Christmas tree, the Mass Effect characters all opening up their presents on Christmas morning or a picture of some Christmas cookies you've baked. It's entirely up to you :) THE PRIZE!!! 1000 DA points as the 1st prize. 500 DA points to the first runner up and 200 DA points for third place. One entry person as usual and we need five entries at the least or the comp will be cancelled. Your final entry needs to be submitted by the end of 25 December 2022. I have to imagine you guys are just as tired and depressed as I am with Hollywood and society in general running every franchise we love in to the ground so how about we list some good stuff to share with each other to cheer us up :) Please add yours to the list in the comments below so we can all share the love. Movies: - Ghostbusters Afterlife: Such a pleasant surprise, considering it even had mostly kids as the cast. - Shazam: A DC film that was actually really good! - Dredd: The Karl Urban one. So fucking good. - 30 Days of Night: Best vampire movie I've seen in ages. - District 9: Fookin' brilliant. - Green Lantern First Flight and Emerald Knights: Animated movies from back when DC made great animation. - Unleashed: Morgan Freeman and Jet Li. Amazing. TV: - The Boys: Omg that Ant Man scene... - Ash vs Evil Dead: Shit, anything with Bruce Campbell in it is gold. - Doom Patrol: Again, another surprise from DC. I think its the greatest Batman movie ever. The critics are educated by marvel movies to expect idiot jokes, a light argument and nothing, NOTHING deep or depresive. This is Batman, and Batman is dark, is angry, and there are a lot of comics where he uses guns and kill people, probably who criticize this, are not realy a completely Batman readers. The movie also contain philosophical issues about the original Sieguel and Shuster ideas abaut the Nitzchean super man as a god between humans, and the idea of kill God like a way to the independance of the specie. This is a fucking philosphical piece of art. Probably the best superhero movie done at this day, and the world critics are a bunch of ignorant assholes.
